Power over Ethernet, eller PoE, har på senare år växt i popularitet. Denna teknik eliminerar behovet av eluttag vid enhetsplatser och gör det lättare att konfigurera dina nätverksenheter. Flexibilitet

Traditionellt sett behöver nätverksenheter installeras nära eluttag men med PoE-teknik som levererar ström via Ethernet-kabeln elimineras behovet av ytterligare elledningar. Utrustningen kan alltså installeras där den behövs och inte där strömkällan sitter. Detta underlättar såklart en hel del för installatören och vid en eventuell flytt av enheten.
Kombinationen av PoE och trådlösa teknologier möjliggör en praktiskt taget kabelfri miljö.

PoE ger dig en större möjlighet att i framtiden förändra och uppgradera ditt nätverk. Användarna kan snabbt och enkelt lägga till, ta bort eller ordna om nätverksenheter. PoE gör att tillägg av nya enheter inte kräver elektrisk planering, utan så fort nätverkskablarna är dragna blir dina nätverksenheter omedelbart tillgängliga. Även om nätverksenheterna kräver hög effekt så finns den nya “PoE Plus” standarden med förstärkt uteffekt så att din PoE investering är hållbar i längden!

PoE möjliggör för användare att lägga till enheter till ett befintligt nätverk utan att köpa fler strömkablar och omorganisera ursprunglig nätdesign. Jämfört med sina icke-PoE motsvarigheter så är PoE-nätets infrastruktur drastiskt förenklad, vilket medför att installation och framtida underhåll blir mycket enklare. PoE förenklar inte bara nätverkets infrastruktur, utan också strömförsörjningens struktur. Nu när PoE-enheterna stöder ett brett inspänningsområde, från 24 VDC till 48 VDC, finns ingen anledning att använda en extra nätadapter för att konvertera en 48 VDC PoE switch till 24 VDC för att passa den tillgängliga spänningen i industriell miljö.
